"The sages used to say we were always cycling through these three stages:
Prayer. Certainty. Praise.”
This reflection came from the small moments I take to meditate in the morning, or the digestion of life lessons when I’m doing pilates on the mat to music. Often when I turned my attention to what those three words really mean, I can reflect back to moments that they were all present. I remember when I prayed to feel free and happy without worrying about somebody else, now that’s just a reality.
That’s the funny thing about reality, you won’t even see the opportunities that are there if you are not conditioned to recognize them. It could pass by and we would have missed out on a realization, a reflection and a thought that led to the next phase of our life.
PRAYER CERTAINTY PRAISE
come in, take a seat.
Prayer
The way the light hits the floor that looks so beautiful. No line to your favourite cafe when you open the door. Beautiful mornings with the windows open, your favourite song in the background. These are what I consider moments of modern day “prayer”, small moments in between all the demands of life. They are moments you couldn’t have crafted up as a checkmark on your to do list. They are made by being mindful of your present moment.
During this time, I find myself with curiosities and ideas. Even questions about how the universe works, or whats next for me. Often these questions are ones I can’t yet answer. It won’t come from thinking harder or trying to figure it out. One may get quiet moments to recognize that it’s there, to feel something greater at work. A purpose, desire, mission.
Certainty
Naval says “not wanting something is just as good as having it”
I say “not needing something is your sign you will have it”
I often find myself thinking wanting it without needing it is the very thing that draws it to me.
I believe this represents certainty perfectly well. What can I get so clear on that it feels like I have it, that I know it’s coming. Manifestation is not just feeling like you have it, thinking like it and it happening. It is believing it is happening without anyone or anything outside of you that tells you it is.
The external reality you can touch, smell, feel and see is the final creation of your mind. The small changes you make on your self development won’t always get reflected right away. Trust that everything you are doing is leading directly to that outcome, or an even better version of it.
Praise
I was watching a Modern Wisdom vlog months ago. Chris was finishing his North American tour with Vancouver being the last stop. At the end of the vlog, Chris and his best friend (who toured with him) are sitting at the edge of the stage reflecting. Speaking on where he is now, who he was, and how far he has come with the ones he loves beside him.
This is a moment I think about when I hear the word Praise.
Praise is a state of mind. It is being able to see what you have already created and appreciate it. To celebrate it. I can reflect on a moment of my own life where praise came in quietly. It’s not always loud and celebratory. Sometimes they are whispers in your ear, answers to questions you had. The moments you see something from a different perspective. When you can wish well for the person that hurt you, forgive your parents for not being perfect, give more than you thought.
Sometimes they are outward moments:
Seeing your vision turn into a reality, making the perfect meal in your kitchen, finishing a hard workout. Laying down in your fresh sheets after a long day.
The mindset of praise can always be found.
come hang out with me over here if you enjoyed the vibe
